Pescallo Sailboats

Thuis painting was painting in the fishing village of Pescallo which is located about one kilometer east of Bellagio on the peninsula that extends from the southside of Lake Como, Italy.

All of the paintings Mike completed this trip were done using water soluble oils from Winsor-Newton.  Mike had never used them before but did on this trip to avioid the pitfalls of using  mineral spirits or other turp that could not be transported by airplane.  During Mikes last trip to italy five years before he met with problems when trying to find a brush cleaning solution in the small towns of Italy.  These water soluble oils were a pleasant surprise and worked well.  Not well enough, however, to change to them completely!
