Plein air painting done during Mike's trip to Europe in May 2011. This painting was done on the shores of Lake Como in Italy near the village of Lenno on the west side of Lake Como.
All of the paintings Mike completed this trip were done using water soluble oils from Winsor-Newton. Mike had never used them before but did on this trip to avioid the pitfalls of using mineral spirits or other turp that could not be transported by airplane. During Mikes last trip to italy five years before he met with problems when trying to find a brush cleaning solution in the small towns of Italy. These water soluble oils were a pleasant surprise and worked well. Not well enough, however, to change to them completely!
