Maid Standing With Duster

This live model study was competed in approximately 2 1/2 hours painting time.  The red with red background created a challenge.  In retrrospect I probably should have changed the color of the maids short skirt to a grayed down green to complement and stand out from the red background.  Remember we are artists so we can adjust and simplify what we in order to create something beautiful in the mind of the beholder!  I did make some adjustments in the background to add interest without taking away from the model.  I grayed the edges and hightened the chroma of the red background near the model.  I also could have kept the background garayed down and hightened the chroma of the red on her short skirt.  This turned out pretty well and kind of has a monochrome like effect in that there is very little color other then red or a grayed down version of red.
