En Plein Air
This plein air painting in Yosemite National Park was a winning painting in the 2009 National Paint The Parks Top 100 Competition in the "Top Mini 50" category. Mike painted this in August in Yosemite one late afternoon as the light settled on the ridges of the valley walls. The deer were placed in the painting to give more perspective to the grandeur of the valley walls. This painting will be touring the USA at various venues through the rest of 2009 and the first half of 2010. The first showing will be at the Kolb Studio Gallery on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon beginning August 1, 2009. Visit www.paintamerica.org for more information.
